About us

Who we are

Sail to Clarity was born out of seeing the delight that our friends and families expressed at being out on the water with us. We could see first-hand how it was not only beneficial for well-being and relaxation, but also how much confidence was built up by those who we roped into giving us a hand on board.

We realised one thing very quickly though…we’re gonna need a bigger boat…

Our Boat, Carole Ann

After falling in love with her, we bought our 31ft Mariah in October 2018. Called ‘Carole Ann’, we found her abandoned in Essex and felt that all she needed was some TLC to bring her back up to her former glory as a high-end American sports cruiser. After investing in two new stern drives, a full servicing of both engines, a deep clean and extensive detailing she is now ready to take you on an experience to remember.

Carole Ann is a 2000 Mariah Z308, an extremely rare boat that was the top of the line in her class. She has twin diesel 165hp engines and is fitted out to an extremely high standard. There is everything on board to make your experience as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Our founders

Tamara Sears

Tamara has worked as an Existential-Phenomenological Psychotherapist and Counsellor for over 15 years. She has lectured and published articles on various topics. Her extensive work as a therapist has covered a variety of areas such as self-esteem, anger management, trauma, bereavement, family issues, depression, anxiety, as well as sex and relationship issues. She continues to work in private practice in Kings Cross, London and in Rochester, Kent. From around the age of six, she used to handle the ropes on her father’s 18ft Court 550 so sailing is definitely in her blood. Having sailed off the coast of Western Australia, Croatia and around the Greek Islands, these days as a commercially endorsed powerboat Skipper she prefers the hustle and bustle of boating on the Medway, Swale and Thames estuaries, and knows all the quiet places to anchor. You can find Tamara’s therapy website here:

Stephen Westcott

Stephen is an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, as well as a Clinical Supervisor. He has gained extensive experience over the years through working in schools, further education, drug and alcohol services, MIND, and by managing a counselling service for adolescents in North London. Over the years he also built up a private practice working mostly with adults (plus the occasional adolescent) from all walks of life. These days his focus is on this as well as his supervision work with other therapists. Stephen has sailed, fished, scuba-dived, and generally just enjoyed being on and around boats his whole life. When the decision was made to move out of London it was always part of his plan to get a boat at some point… so after lots more study, several boating exams and then finally getting a 22ft speedboat… that plan was realised with a ton of fun on the River Medway. Stephen is now a commercially endorsed powerboat Skipper. Stephen’s therapy website is here:
