What is my itinerary?

Your itinerary is dependent on tides and weather. An intended itinerary will be provided two weeks prior to departure but this may change according to the prevailing conditions on the day. Running times vary but will usually be either 9am to 5pm, or from 10am to 6pm. Pick up and drop off points are most likely to be Rochester Pier, but will occasionally be somewhere else such as either Medway Bridge Marina, Allington Lock, Sun Pier or MDL Marina in Chatham.

What happens if the weather is not good?

We continually monitor the weather forecasts and if our Skippers think that a voyage is not permissible owing to adverse weather conditions then we will cancel the workshop. This decision is solely at the Skipper’s discretion. In such a circumstance we will either try and offer you an alternative date or provide you with a full refund.

What happens if I am late?

You can’t be. Mother Nature waits for no man (or woman) so neither can we. If you are late then we will be departing without you so please ensure you allow plenty of time to make your way to the designated departure point. No refund will be provided.

Do you provide lunch?

Yes we do. A light sandwich lunch with refreshments is included in the price. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements in advance of your workshop and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is strictly prohibited on this vessel as it is a fire safety risk. Vaping is permissible as long as it does not interfere with the comfort of other passengers, trainer and crew.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Although swimming is a good skill to have, you do not need to be able to swim for this experience. We have life jackets and all relevant safety equipment on board.

What kind of clothing should I wear?

Warm layers that are weather dependent, unless of course it is really exceptionally hot then cool clothing with a light jacket as sometimes it is deceptively cooler on the water than on land. We request that you pack as lightly as possible and include only items of absolute necessity as there is limited stowage on board.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Please note that non-marking and flat rubber-soled shoes only are permitted on board. No high heels will be accepted. This is for your own comfort and safety, but it is also to prevent any damage to the boat because she is a sensitive soul and inappropriate footwear will leave their mark on her. 

Should I be sun safe?

There is a shade canopy on board Carole Ann, and an internal space if you need some respite from the sun, however it is not uncommon to get sunburnt just from the glare off the water. For that reason sunscreen is recommended even during the cooler months, and mandatory during the summer period.

Are there toilet facilities on board?

Yes there are toilet facilities on board.

Do you offer concessions?

Unfortunately not because of the high maintenance and running costs of the boat.

Do you have wheelchair access?

We sincerely apologise but unfortunately there is no wheelchair access for this experience.

Do you do bespoke courses?

Yes we do. If you have any specific course requirements please let us know as we are happy to personalise our training to suit your needs.

What are your payment terms?

Full payment is to be made in advance at the time of booking for workshops. If you need to cancel for any reason then a 100% refund will be provided up to 4 weeks prior to departure. Cancellations received between four weeks and two weeks prior to departure will be given a 50% refund. Cancellations received less than two weeks in advance are not refundable under any circumstance.
